At 10 weeks along, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the “fetal period”, a time when the tissues and organs in his body quickly grow and mature. You can see in this ultrasound photo taken at 10 weeks along that the baby’s limbs have started to develop. If you could take a closer peek inside the womb, you’d be able to spot details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.
At this point in your pregnancy, you might be experiencing a lot of nausea. It’s estimated that about three in four women get what’s usually called “morning sickness.” To help reduce your nausea, try eating dry crackers when you wake up and throughout the day. Also, carry a small emergency bag, since the suddenness of pregnancy nausea is legendary!
